India, July 1 -- A 33-year-old Indian IT professional and student from Andhra Pradesh, Venkatesh Doppalapudi, died after his vehicle was swept away by flash flood waters in Kansas, United States.

He was residing in Omaha, Nebraska, and was travelling towards Houston when he encountered severe weather conditions.

Authorities said heavy rainfall had already caused widespread flooding in parts of Kansas, with more than six inches of rain reported in several areas.
