India, March 27 -- India on Friday expressed support for Bangladesh's pursuit of justice over the atrocities committed during the Bangladesh Liberation War, calling out Pakistan for continuing to deny its actions.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted that Operation Searchlight involved the systematic and targeted killing of millions, along with widespread sexual violence against women.
He also noted that the crackdown triggered a massive humanitarian crisis, forcing millions of people to flee to India as refugees.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh leader Tarique Rahman described March 25, 1971, as a "pre-planned massacre" and one of the most brutal days in the country's history.
