India, Sept. 10 -- India and Russia are looking to deepen cooperation in civil aviation, with discussions expanding around manufacturing Russian aircraft in India, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu said on Thursday.

The proposed plans include the turboprop IL-114 and Sukhoi Superjet 100, both of which India sees as suitable for strengthening regional air connectivity.

Speaking ahead of the BRICS Summit, Naidu said discussions had been held with the Russian delegation on the memorandum of understanding between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Russia for aircraft manufacturing in India.
