Mumbai/IBNS, Sept. 22 -- Faculty members of IIT Bombay and the faculty association of IIT Madras have extended support to IIT Bombay Professor Suryanarayana Doolla, who is at the centre of the controversy surrounding the death by suicide of second-year student Sahil Wakode on the institute campus, media reports said.

Wakode was enrolled in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering.

The IIT Bombay Faculty Forum has backed Doolla amid the controversy, saying he was performing his duties as an examination invigilator in accordance with institutional procedures and norms.

Faculty members also staged a protest and held a march on campus in support of Doolla following his suspension from the administrative deanship.
