India, Sept. 21 -- A bizarre and futuristic spectacle unfolded in the US as an American influencer stepped into an arena to take on a six-foot humanoid robot, creating scenes reminiscent of The Terminator and blurring the line between science fiction and reality.

The match was organised recently in San Francisco by US-based robotics company REK as part of a project exploring virtual reality gaming in which humans can remotely control humanoid robots and compete against one another.

Viral footage of the event has since taken social media by storm, showing influencer and content creator Frankie LaPenna battling the humanoid robot in front of a cheering crowd.
