Thrissur/IBNS, Aug. 20 -- In an instance of cross-border romance, Scottish Member of Parliament Martin Day on Tuesday tied the knot with an Indian woman at the Guruvayur Temple in Kerala's Thrissur, media reports said.

Martin Day, a former UK Parliament member, married Piravom native Nidhin Chandh at 11 am, followed by celebrations at the Pushpanjali Auditorium.

Nidhin's 22-year-old son from her previous marriage, Veddik Shankar, was present alongside close relatives at the ceremony, marking the culmination of a relationship that began in the United Kingdom years ago.

Nidhin travelled to the UK for higher studies but later faced difficulties following changes to visa regulations.
