Dubai/IBNS, Oct. 3 -- Indian pilot Smit Machchhar was attacked with the cockpit's crash axe by co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami, who allegedly attempted to take control of the aircraft and crash the Tel Aviv-bound flydubai flight, UAE prosecutors confirmed on Saturday, NDTV reported.

According to the report, al-Hammami tried to take control of the aircraft during the alleged cockpit attack.

Machchhar, who was flying the aircraft, managed to prevent the alleged crash attempt and retain control of the plane.
