Flydubai cockpit attack: Injured Indian pilot Smit Machchhar airlifted to Abu Dhabi
India, Oct. 1 -- Indian pilot Smit Machchhar was on Thursday airlifted to Abu Dhabi for further medical treatment after he was severely injured by his co-pilot who allegedly attempted to crash the Tel Aviv-bound flydubai plane, The Times of India reported.
Machchhar is currently stable, according to reports.
Indian Ambassador meets pilot's family
India's Ambassador to the UAE, Dr. Deepak Mittal, on Thursday said he met Machchhar's family and assured them of the Indian government's full support for the captain's well-being and welfare.
Mittal praised Machchhar's bravery and the manner in which he acted to save lives after his co-pilot allegedly attempted to take control of the aircraft.
