Europe burns: 220,000 evacuated as massive wildfires rage across France and Spain
India, July 25 -- French authorities have ordered the evacuation of nearly 60,000 people near Bordeaux, taking the total number of people displaced by wildfires in France and Spain to around 220,000, according to media reports.
Around 200,000 people have been evacuated from the Gironde and Landes regions in southwestern France, the BBC reported.
French President Emmanuel Macron has mobilised the military to assist evacuation and firefighting operations as multiple blazes continue to spread across the region.
Spanish authorities have declared a national emergency, ordering around 25,000 people to evacuate while advising nearly 40,000 others to remain indoors due to the advancing flames and hazardous smoke.
