India, July 28 -- Suneil Anand, actor, filmmaker and the only son of Hindi cinema legend Dev Anand and actor Kalpana Kartik, died on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack in London, his family announced. He was 70.

According to a statement issued by his niece Gina Narang, Suneil Anand suffered a heart attack while travelling from the United States to India via the United Kingdom.

Passed away before planned procedure

After falling ill, Suneil Anand was admitted to a hospital in London, where doctors initially planned to perform a stent procedure following an assessment.
