CJP calls off Sept 5 Delhi march after Supreme Court quashes FIRs against protesters
New Delhi/IBNS, Sept. 1 -- The Supreme Court has delivered major relief to protesters facing criminal cases over the July 20 demonstrations organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), ordering the quashing of FIRs registered between July 20 and 25.
The court, however, made an exception for protesters with criminal antecedents, allowing the authorities to continue proceedings in such cases.
The order came after the Centre assured the court that FIRs connected with the July 20 CJP protests would be withdrawn and that no fresh cases would be registered in relation to the same protest-related events.
Following the Supreme Court's intervention, the CJP withdrew its proposed September 5 march in Delhi.
