India, Sept. 1 -- New York Police officers shot dead an apparently emotionally disturbed woman after she allegedly stabbed two people at Times Square, media reports said.

One of the victims, a 32-year-old woman, died at a hospital, police told ABC 7. The other victim, a 68-year-old man, was also taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since been listed in stable condition, officials told the news channel.

According to investigators, the woman was threatening people with two knives at West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue at around 4:26 p.m. before stabbing the two victims.

She then fled north towards an NYPD substation in Times Square, where officers confronted her, police said.
