Kolkata/IBNS, Aug. 15 -- The Khuti Puja of the 84th edition of Kolkata's popular Chaltabagan Sarbojanin Durga Puja was held on Friday, on the eve of the 80th Independence Day, marking the beginning of the countdown to one of the world's biggest festivals.

The Khuti Puja was performed by Sundeep Bhutoria, chairman of the 84-year-old Manicktala Chaltabagan Lohapatty Durga Puja Committee in Kolkata.

The event was attended by Bengali film superstar Rituparna Sengupta, musician Bickram Ghosh, businessman and columnist Suhel Seth, local MLA Vijay Ojha, and industrialist-politician Sishir Bajoria.
