Brussels, May 13 -- Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand will travel to Oman and Qatar from May 12 to 15 to discuss trade, security and regional developments, including efforts to maintain commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

In Doha, Anand will hold talks with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, investment and security.

Canada said the trip reflects its support for Oman and Qatar as regional partners during a period of heightened economic uncertainty and continuing concerns over maritime security in the Gulf.
