India, March 4 -- A growing chorus of Canadian journalists, commentators and public figures is urging the federal government to reconsider the deportation of Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, the truck driver at the centre of the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

They argued that deportation would extend punishment beyond the sentence imposed by the courts in a tragedy that killed 16 people and injured 13.
