Sarnia/Ontario, Aug. 11 -- The Canadian and U.S. Coast Guards are warning the public against participating in the 2026 Port Huron Float Down, citing fast-moving currents, cold water, weather conditions, alcohol consumption and limited emergency-response resources.

The unsanctioned event is scheduled for August 16 on the St. Clair River, with participants expected to travel roughly 7.5 miles (12 kilometres) along the waterway.
