India, Sept. 11 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy were the way forward to resolve conflicts during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi ahead of the BRICS Summit.

His remarks assume significance amid the escalation in fighting between Russia and Ukraine in recent weeks.

Modi told Putin that India was ready to contribute to peace efforts and support initiatives aimed at resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
