India, June 14 -- The excitement of bungee jumping turned into a horrifying tragedy for a 21-year-old Brazilian woman after she plunged more than 130 feet to her death when staff allegedly pushed her off a bridge without attaching the safety rope.

According to media reports, the victim was identified as Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas.

Video footage of the incident reportedly captured onlookers screaming, "The rope, people, the rope!" moments after she was released into the air, according to The Sun.

By then, it was too late. Maria fell more than 131 feet to the ground as stunned staff members watched the tragedy unfold.
