Blaze on Rajdhani Express sparks panic near Kota, passengers escape unhurt
India, May 17 -- A massive fire erupted in the B-1 air-conditioned coach of the Rajdhani Express near Vikramgarh Alot railway station in Rajasthan's Kota division early Saturday morning.
Thick black smoke billowed from the coach as railway officials rushed to detach the affected compartment and cut off the overhead power supply to prevent the blaze from spreading.
68 passengers evacuated safely, extra coach to be added
All 68 passengers travelling in the coach were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.
Railway authorities shifted passengers to other compartments and said an additional coach would be attached at Kota to restore the train's full capacity before continuing its journey to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.
