India, May 24 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Debangshu Panda on Sunday won a landslide victory by more than one lakh vote margin in the Falta Assembly constituency repoll, delivering a major setback to the ruling All India Trinamool Congress in what was long projected as its "Diamond Harbour stronghold."

After the final round of counting, Panda had secured 1,49,666 votes, leading by nearly one lakh votes over his nearest rival, Sambhu Nath Kurmi of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), who polled 40645 votes.
