India, April 9 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faces a key electoral test as Assam, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry go to the polls on Thursday.

BJP, completing its second term in Assam, is aiming for a hattrick under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The campaign has been marked by a mix of promises and controversies.
