Big rail boost! Modi govt clears semi high-speed train project for Gujarat
India, May 13 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday approved the Ahmedabad (Sarkhej)-Dholera Semi High-Speed Double Line project of the Ministry of Railways at an estimated cost of Rs.20,667 crore.
The project will mark Indian Railways' first semi high-speed rail corridor and is planned using indigenously developed technology, making it a major milestone in the country's railway modernisation journey.
The proposed railway section will provide faster connectivity between Ahmedabad, Dholera Special Investment Region, the upcoming Dholera International Airport, and the Lothal National Maritime Heritage Complex.
