Bangladesh asks media not to broadcast Sheikh Hasina's speech ahead of first public appearance from India
India, Aug. 5 -- The Bangladesh government has asked the country's media not to publish or broadcast any statement by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who is expected to make her first public appearance from India since her ouster in 2024 through a virtual press conference.
Hasina has been living in India since August 5, 2024, after fleeing Bangladesh amid violent student-led protests that ended her tenure as the country's longest-serving prime minister.
Expressing "deep concern", the Bangladesh government said media organisations should refrain from carrying the remarks of the ousted leader "showing the utmost respect for the court as well as the spirit of the July Uprising and the sacrifices of the martyrs," according to a governm...
