India, Oct. 3 -- Pranavi Urs produced a composed display and withstood a late challenge from her rivals to create history, becoming the first Indian woman golfer to win an Asian Games gold medal on Saturday.

Urs defeated her closest challengers, Singapore's Shannon Tan and China's Yin Ruoning, by a single stroke at the Kasugai Country Club East Course to add another gold medal to India's tally.

Pranavi carded a 15-under 265 to finish at the top of the leaderboard. She needed to save par on the 18th hole to secure the gold after entering the final hole with a one-shot lead.
