India, June 5 -- Anthropic has warned that one of humanity's long-debated fears may soon move closer to reality as advances in artificial intelligence accelerate the possibility of systems that can improve themselves and generate even more capable successors without human intervention.

In a recent blog post, the company noted: "Taken far enough, and given enough compute, that trend points to an AI system capable of fully autonomously designing and developing its own successor."
