London, July 21 -- Andy Burnham became Britain's new prime minister on Monday after accepting King Charles III's invitation to form a government, pledging to restore political stability, decentralise power and launch what he called the country's biggest reforms in four decades.
Burnham in a statement said that his government would mark a "circuit breaker for Britain" through sweeping political and economic reforms.
