India, July 31 -- A humanitarian crisis unfolded at Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta after at least 41 migrants died while attempting to cross from Morocco, prompting the Spanish government to deploy additional security forces as European leaders expressed concern over the escalating situation.

Juan Jesus Vivas, the regional president of Ceuta, said nearly 60,000 migrants had entered the Spanish enclave from Morocco within the past 24 hours, overwhelming local authorities and triggering violent clashes at the border.
