20 years of heart trouble, 3 hospitalisations: Kolkata hospital performs Eastern India's first PFA procedure
Kolkata/IBNS, Sept. 8 -- Manipal Hospital has announced they successfully performed Eastern India's first Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) procedure using Boston Scientific's Farapulse Pulsed Field Ablation System to treat Atrial Fibrillation (AF), a common heart rhythm disorder.
The procedure was performed on a 72-year-old patient who had been experiencing recurrent palpitations for nearly 20 years, with the episodes becoming more severe over the past seven months.
She required three hospital admissions during this period due to heart failure, with one episode also resulting in loss of consciousness. Despite medication, her symptoms continued to recur.
