India, Sept. 1 -- At least 12 people, including an Indian national, were killed in overnight Russian aerial strikes across Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy said rescue and recovery operations had been underway since the attack, with nearly 350 emergency responders deployed in Kyiv and the surrounding region alone.

He said Russia used a "significant" number of jet-powered drones and ballistic missiles in the overnight strikes, which damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.

He added that a border crossing with Romania was deliberately damaged, along with export infrastructure.
