India, July 19 -- At least 11 people were killed and several others went missing after torrential rain triggered flash floods and landslides in the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, prompting a large-scale rescue operation.

Swollen rivers burst their banks within minutes, inundating low-lying areas, washing away homes and vehicles, and leaving widespread destruction in their wake.

Rescue teams from multiple agencies have been deployed as authorities continue to search for the missing.
