India, April 5 -- In a dramatic turn of events, a missing US fighter jet crew member has been rescued following what President Donald Trump described as one of the most "daring" search-and-rescue operations in American military history.

What happened

The incident began on Friday when Iran shot down a U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle carrying two crew members-a pilot and a weapons systems officer.

While one was rescued almost immediately, the second officer remained missing, triggering an urgent and high-risk search operation.

The mission, carried out under intense risk, successfully located and recovered the missing crew member.
