India, June 17 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the importance of protecting Indian seafarers during his meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, as concerns continue to mount over maritime security in the Gulf region.

Highlighting India's longstanding position on maritime trade and navigation, Modi stressed that the safety of Indian sailors working across international shipping routes remains a matter of significant national concern.
