'Rulers became killers': Mamata blames BJP after Abhishek Banerjee assaulted in Bengal
Kolkata/IBNS, May 30 -- A dramatic confrontation unfolded in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Saturday after Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was assaulted by a crowd during a visit to Sonarpur, triggering a fresh political battle between the TMC and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee strongly condemned the incident and accused the BJP of being responsible for the attack.
The BJP, however, rejected the allegation and denied any involvement.
