India, Sept. 20 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have criticised Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his remarks and on-stage mimicry aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Opposition party's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' event in Indore on Saturday.

Gandhi appeared on stage with stand-up comic Pulkit Mani, where the two exchanged lines and gestures that were widely interpreted as a mockery of the prime minister.

Gandhi also mimicked PM Modi's voice while speaking about the government's diplomatic approach.

Slamming the Congress party over the act, Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kiren Rijiju said the political outfit has turned into a party of 'comedians and jokers'.
