Washington DC/IBNS, March 12 -- US President Donald Trump on Wednesday declared that the United States had effectively won the war against Iran, claiming there was "practically nothing left to target", media reports said.

However, Trump added that American forces would remain engaged to complete the mission against Iran, which was attacked in a joint operation by the United States and Israel.

Nearly two weeks ago, the US and Israel launched strikes on Tehran, reportedly killing Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and triggering escalating military exchanges between the two sides.

Despite Trump's claim of victory, both sides remain engaged in an intensifying conflict that has kept West Asia on edge.
