India, July 14 -- Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has expressed his happiness after his daughter, Ida Ali, got engaged to her longtime partner, Krish Agrawal, during the couple's recent trip to Norway.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the director described the engagement as a deeply emotional moment.

He also revealed that Krish had spoken to him before proposing to Ida.

Wedding plans can wait

When asked about the couple's wedding plans, Imtiaz said he wanted them to savour the moment without outside expectations.

"I would rather not step in and let them enjoy their moment," he said.
