Kolkata/IBNS, April 28 -- In a bid to boost voter confidence ahead of the second phase of polling in West Bengal, an IPS officer on election duty has launched a statewide crackdown, issuing a strong warning to a Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate over alleged voter intimidation.

Ajay Pal Sharma, known as an encounter specialist, was flown in from Uttar Pradesh and deployed as a police observer in South 24 Parganas-considered a TMC stronghold.
