Uber Takes Bike Services To 100 More Cities Amid Intense Competition
India, Aug. 12 -- Ride-hailing major Uber has announced the expansion of its bike taxi service, Uber Bike, to 100 cities in India. Overall, the ride-hailing major claims to be present in more than 220 Indian and is extensively looking to deepen its reach in smaller towns while strengthening its position in the country's two-wheeler mobility market.
Uber Bike is now operational in 18 states and one union territory, with cities including Jammu, Tirunelveli, Silchar and Jamnagar.
Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari welcomed the expansion and urged states to adopt the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, 2025 to facilitate bike taxis and other new mobility services.
