India, Aug. 22 -- India's manufacturing sector is entering a new phase. Factors such as policy support, private investment and rising domestic capabilities are pushing the country closer to its self-reliance ambitions and manufacturing startups are building it.

The sector now contributes around 16-17% of India's GDP and employs more than 2.7 Cr people, while manufacturing gross value added (GVA) grew at a CAGR of 10.88% between FY23 and FY26. In July, merchandise exports reached $44.24 Bn, while manufacturing output grew 7.8% in June 2026.
