India, Sept. 20 -- The Indian spacetech ecosystem is entering its most critical phase yet. After years of experimentation and ambition, spacetech startups must now prove they are on a path to commercial viability.

Investors are already betting on this transition. According to Inc42's data, homegrown spacetech startups have already raised $252.9 Mn so far this year, nearly double what the sector raised in 2025.

Leading the momentum is Skyroot Aerospace. The startup became India's first spacetech unicorn in May after it raised a $60 Mn round. Subsequently, it was successful in becoming the first Indian private company to place a rocket into orbit with its Vikram-1 mission. It is now lining up a bigger $200 Mn round.
