India, Aug. 17 -- The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 31 new applications under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), amounting to a cumulative Rs.6,844 Cr.

MeitY also cleared a further Rs.1,033 Cr capacity expansion to existing beneficiary Wipro Global, taking the fresh clearance amount to Rs.7,877 Cr.

With this, MeitY has now approved 106 applications over the lifetime of the scheme.

Capital goods led the allocation with five approved applications seeking Rs.1,451 Cr in total. Optical transceivers and connectors followed suit in volume terms with three applications approved each.
