woman killed as criminals rob house preparing for marriage
PURNEA, June 30 -- A 35-year-old woman was killed and six others were injured when criminals raided a house preparing for a wedding in Jamui district on Sunday night.
The "would be" bride was among those injured and the burglars looted the jewellery prepared for the marriage, police said.
The marriage was scheduled for Wednesday.
The family alleged the raid resulted from a land and property dispute. Police have launched a massive manhunt for the suspects.
The incident took place at Dadpur village under Jhajha police station limits on Sunday night when a dozen masked and armed criminals broke into the house and started beating the family members.
Family members alleged that the criminals fired several rounds and brutally thrashed family members before fleeing with jewellery.

The other seriously injured were identified as Suhaga Devi, Kajal Kumari, Komal Kumari and Subodh Kumar who were rushed to Jamui district hospital from where doctors referred them to a higher centre," said police.
Two injured people, including Umesh Yadav and Dinesh Yadav were discharged from Jamui district hospital after preliminary treatment. Dinesh Yadav is the father of the bride.
He said, "My daughter Kajal Kumari's marriage is to be held on Wednesday. Now I don't know whether the marriage will be solemnised or not."
He accused his elder brother Basudev Yadav of engineering the incident over a land dispute.
Police sub inspector (SI) Deepak Kumar visited the site and recorded the victims' statements. He said that raids were being carried out to arrest the culprits. He didn't rule out the possibility of a land/property dispute. "An investigation is underway," he said....
