Woman injected with sedative as robbers flee with cash, jewellery
DARBHANGA, July 11 -- Five armed robbers allegedly entered a house through the roof, tied up a 25-year-old woman, cut her hair and injected her with a suspected sedative before fleeing with cash and jewellery worth around Rs.5.35 lakh in Bihar's Darbhanga district on Thursday evening, police said.
The incident took place at Darhar village under Bahadurpur police station limits while the woman, identified as Karishma Devi, was at home with her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
According to local accounts, the assailants bound the woman's hands and legs, dragged her, cut her hair and allegedly injected her in the back, rendering her unconscious. They also reportedly turned up the television volume to prevent neighbours from hearing any commotion.
The robbers allegedly broke open two Godrej almirahs and escaped with jewellery worth about Rs.5 lakh and Rs.35,000 in cash. Karishma Devi was admitted to the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where she is undergoing treatment.
A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team and Bahadurpur police inspected the spot and collected evidence. Bahadurpur station house officer Prasunjay Kumar said police were investigating the case from all angles and efforts were underway to identify and apprehend the accused....
