Union min Jitan Ram Manjhi gets death threat; 1 held in Nalanda
PATNA, May 23 -- A man was arrested on Friday for allegedly posting a video on social media that issued a death threat to union minister for micro, small and medium enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi after the latter sought action against an officer.
In the purported video, Rajesh Rao, a resident of Malsalami police station area in Patna, was allegedly seen using casteist language and making objectionable remarks against the union minister while also threatening to kill him.
Gaya Ji SSP Sushil Kumar said, "Cyber police station registered an FIR against Rao for issuing the threat in a Facebook post which was widely circulated. He was arrested from Nalanda's Laherisarai police station area."
Manjhi had demanded time-bound action against Mohanpur SHO Sanjay Kumar, warning he would gherao residences of senior district officials. The accused allegedly threatened Manjhi for seeking action against the cop.
Manjhi had on Tuesday criticised the SHO for "negligence" while alleging that he "refused" a security escort to Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) MLA from Barachatti, Jyoti Devi who was later attacked by miscreants....
