Under trial prisoner dies at Madhubani jail
MADHUBANI, Aug. 12 -- A 20-yr-old under trial prisoner died in mysterious circumstances at the divisional jail in Rampatti, Madhubani, triggering a commotion at Sadar Hospital on Tuesday, while his family alleged he had been assaulted and demanded an impartial probe into his death, sources familiar with the matter said.
The deceased was identified as Roshan Yadav of Brahmotara under Arer PS. According to his family, Roshan had been living for a long time at his maternal grandparents' village in Balat under Rahika police station.
According to police, Roshan had been lodged in judicial custody since March 6, 2026, in connection with a case under the Arms Act.
Roshan's sister said she had met him in jail on Saturday and he appeared to be in normal health. The family alleged that Rahika police informed them about his death on Monday night.
Roshan's sister, who reached Sadar Hospital, further alleged that injury marks were visible on his body and fellow inmates and jail personnel could be involved in his death.
The family also claimed Roshan had been falsely implicated in the Arms Act case....
