U'khand CM inaugurates 13 villages to promote Sanskrit
Dehradun, Aug. 11 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday inaugurated 13 "Adarsh (ideal) Sanskrit" villages to promote the ancient language, which is the second official language of the state.
During an event at a school in Dehradun's Bhogpur, Dhami said: "Government primary Sanskrit schools will be established, and dedicated buildings will be constructed in all such villages in the future under the 'Adarsh Sanskrit' village programme."
According to an official statement, schools in Bhogpur (Dehradun), Mukhem (Tehri Garhwal), Kotgaon (Uttarkashi), Bainji (Rudraprayag), Dimmar (Chamoli), Goda (Pauri Garhwal), Urg (Pithoragarh), Janti Pandekota (Almora), Sheri (Bageshwar), Kharkkarki (Champawat), Noorpur Panjhanhedi (Haridwar), Pandey (Nainital) and Nagla Tarai (Udham Singh Nagar) have been designated as Adarsh Sanskrit villages for the promotion of language.
Uttarakhand, he said, is the first state to take such an initiative for the preservation and promotion of Devvani Sanskrit, calling it the "basic foundation of our culture, tradition, knowledge and science".
The CM said that under the National Education Policy, efforts are being made to make Sanskrit a modern, practical language, linking universities to modern resources, developing online learning platforms, and even translating Lok Sabha proceedings into Sanskrit.
"Students excelling in Sanskrit are being honoured under the Sanskrit Chhatra Pratibha Samman Yojana, while events such as national research, astrology, and Veda conferences are being organised by the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy, Haridwar," he said....
