Two swept away in Gandak after boat capsizes in East Champaran
BETTIAH, April 28 -- A 25-year-old man and his 16-year-old sister were swept away in the current of the Gandak river after a boat carrying five villagers capsized in East Champaran district on Monday.
Govindganj station house officer (SHO) Raju Kumar Mishra said that the mishap took place when a boat carrying five people capsized in the Gandak river around 1 pm on Monday. The villagers were en route to the Diara area near Sareya Pipra village in East Champaran district.
"As per the information available with us, a man and his sister are missing, while three others swam to the safety," he said.
The SDRF team was pressed into rescue operation at the time of filing this report.
Those who went missing have been identified as Nibha Kumari (16) and Heeralal Mahato, residents of Sareya Pipra in Govindganj block....
