Two pilgrims among four killed, five injured in GT Road accident
BHABUA, Aug. 17 -- Four youths, including two pilgrims, were killed and five others critically injured in three separate accidents on GT Road (NH 19) in Kaimur district on Saturday evening, police said.
Ranjit Kumar and Abhishek Kumar were killed and Akshay Kumar, Aditya Kumar and Kundan Kumar were critically injured when their speeding car hit the back of a parked truck near Kulharia Turning under Durgawati police station area. Aged between 20 and 25 years, the youths were friends belonging to Shambhuatil village under Mehandia police station of Arwal district and were returning home after offering prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, police added.
A youth Akshay Kumar was killed and his two friends were critically injured when a speeding marble laden trailer, hit an auto-rickshaw hard on GT Road near Toll Plaza under the Durgawati police station area.
The collision was so severe that the auto-rickshaw got completely stuck under the trailer and everyone riding in it was badly trapped inside. After nearly two and a half hours of hard work, Durgawati and Mohania police, with the help of three cranes, removed the body, rescued the trapped people and sent them to the sub-divisional hospital in Mohania. They were returning to their native Samhuta village under Shivsagar police station area of Rohtas district after meeting their sister at Durgawati, police said.
In the third accident, a Sasaram youth was killed when his speedy scooty hit the back of a truck on GT Road near Kulharia village under Durgawati police station area.
All the bodies have been handed over to their kin after postmortem examination and police are taking further action, Kaimur Superintendent of Police Shikhar Choudhary said....
