Two minor siblings among three charred to death in E Champaran
BETTIAH, May 10 -- Three people, including two minor siblings, were charred to death while another person sustained serious burn injuries after a fire broke out at a house in Barharwa Fatehmohammed village under Dhaka block of Bihar's East Champaran district early on Saturday, police said.
Kundwa Chainpur's station house officer (SHO) Rahul Kumar said that a short circuit likely caused the fire at hardware businessman Raj Kumar Sah's two-storey shop-cum-house in which his two children Rudhra Kumar, 8, and Shristhi Kumari, 11, and helper, Prince Kumar, lost their lives around 12.15 am.
"Sah and his wife were away to attend a wedding. The siblings were asleep on the second floor while two workers were on the first floor when the blaze engulfed the building. All four were trapped. Vijay Baitha, the second helper, survived by jumping outside. The bodies have been sent for autopsy," he said. Villagers noticed flames and smoke coming from the house and attempted to douse the flame. However, it spread rapidly due to highly inflammable materials inside the house. Fire tenders later reached the village and brought the blaze under control. However, by that time, the trio were charred beyond recognition....
