Two get life term for murder of SC youth
ARA, June 9 -- Two people were awarded life imprisonment on Monday for the murder of a 19-year-old Scheduled Caste youth. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.3 lakh each on both the convicts. Out of the recovered fine amount, Rs.1 lakh from each accused will be handed over to the victim's family.
The judgment was delivered by First Additional District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Court for SC/ST Act cases, Sailendra Kumar Panda, on Monday. Special Public Prosecutor for SC/ST Act cases, Satyendra Kumar Singh, said that the incident took place on January 10, 2022.
The victim, Dablu Kumar, a resident of Suraundha Colony under Koilwar police station limits, was stabbed and stoned to death while returning home after manual labour work. According to the prosecution, both the accused had earlier threatened the victim.
Following the incident, Mahendra Ram, the victim's father, lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Koilwar police station. Charges against the accused were framed on September 16, 2022. During the trial, the prosecution examined seven witnesses.
Based on the evidence presented during the trial, the court found Pili Kumar and Niki Rai, both residents of Koilwar, guilty....
